Martin Warhurst, Director of Finance & Corporate Services
I qualified as a Chartered Accountant in 1999 with John Gordon Walton & Co, a small independent firm of accountants in Leeds. In 2000, I moved to the social housing team at KPMG. In 2004, I joined the social housing team at RSM Robson Rhodes, who later merged with Grant Thornton. I joined Cestria in March 2010.
I have demonstrated my commitment to the not-for-profit sector by holding several voluntary positions including Board Member and Chair of the Audit Committee at Wakefield College, Audit Committee Member of the Learning and Skills Council, Board Member of the Chester-le-Street Area Action Partnership, Trustee of Wakefield Community Foundation and Audit Committee Member at Askham Bryan College.
I was attracted to the breadth of the role offered to me at Cestria. I have overall responsibility for Finance, Corporate Services, Income Management, Human Resources, Support Services, Customer Services, Tenant Involvement, Asset Management and I am the Company Secretary.
Cestria, as an organisation, holds great appeal for me. The Association has achieved so much since transfer, with tenants apparently unanimous in their opinion of just how much we have improved their homes and satisfaction levels. The friendly and enthusiastic team of staff also make for a pleasant work environment.
I look forward to being part of a team that continues to improve the homes and lives of our tenants. A team that makes a difference in our communities that will last for generations.
