Community Centres & Communal Rooms
There are presently six Community Centre/Communal Rooms open for residents to use. These include Holyoake, Lambourne Close, Auckland, Gibside, Elm Court and Edenfield. For more information about the Community Centres please contact Mary Brennan (0191 385 1931).

Following the successful completion of the Holyoake Community Centre refurbishment, Cestria Community Housing is making plans to do the same for four of our communal rooms, ensuring tenants are at the heart of the decision making process.
We have recently completed consultation with tenants and residents that attend Edenfield, Auckland, Gibside and Lambourne Communal Rooms.
Tenants and residents were invited to choose from a range of kitchen cupboards designs, including bench tops and wall tiles. They also decided which tables and chairs, curtains and floor coverings they would prefer.
We want to ensure that the communal room facilities are used to their full potential. Consequently, we have surveyed each communal room and in order to improve the layout we displayed two options of the new layouts, which include bigger kitchens, and more storage space etc. Tenants and residents were asked to choose which layout they would prefer.
Work is due to start in the new year and tenants and residents will be invited to form a steering group for each communal room to ensure they are kept informed of timescales and look at possible alternative venues that they can use while their communal room undergoes refurbishment. Hopefully, these steering groups will continue to meet following refurbishment in order to agree the way forward.
