Community Caretaker Service

Community Caretaker ServiceAll Cestria land will be maintainted by Cestria's own Community Caretaker team. Tenants have been involved in setting the standards and agreed:

  • The standard minimum height of grass will be 17mm on a 10 day cutting cycle during the growth season 1st April - 31st October (weather permitting). The route taken will be: Ouston, Perkinsville, Pelton, Pelton Lane Ends, High Handenhold, West Pelton, Grange Villa, Newfield, Pelton Fell, Chester-le-Street, South Pelaw, Edmondsley, Daisy Hill, Sacriston, Nettlesworth, Kimblesworth, Chester Moor, Great Lumley, Fencehouses, Bournmoor. As part of this cycle we shall weed spray all areas required. Due to cost we are unable to remove the grass arising from the land. 
  • Shrub bed maintenance and path edging will be carried out between the months of October - March, and tree, hedge and bush pruning as requested.
  • Reports received regarding dangerous trees will be inspected within 3 working days and any works required carried out immediately where public safety may be at risk.

The Caretaker team will also do other work such as garden clearances which may be requested by the Estate Services Officers and the Void Maintenance team as well as snow removal and gritting of footpaths on Cestria's land, with priority being given to sheltered schemes first and bungalows secondly.
