Frequently asked questions

What can I expect from the Garden Maintenance Service?

We will call once a month between March and October to maintain the garden. We will cut the grass, trim the edges, prune all hedges/bushes, weed spray any footpaths and clean the area on completion.

What does the service not cover?

  • Weeding flower beds
  • Planting flowers
  • Excessive rubbish removal (household furniture, full bin bags etc) These items would be charged on an individual basis
  • The service will not move/remove any obstructions from a garden (plant pots, ornaments etc.) and will accept no responsibility for any damage to items obstructing grass cutting operations
  • Hedges over three meters in height will be exempt from the standard service. If maintenance is required there will be an additional cost to reduce them to a maintainable height.

How much is the service?

The service charge is currently £6 per week (including VAT) for 50 weeks per year. This charge can be paid for via a one off cost, monthly direct debit, or via an All Pay card at any premises with a Pay Point or Post Office.

How is this charge worked out?

We have worked out what it costs to provide the Garden Maintenance Service. This is calculated by taking into account costs incurred in previous years and by looking at any future costs we know are coming. This total cost of providing the service is then split equally between all properties receiving the service.

Will this service charge increase?

The service charge will usually increase if the costs of providing the service increase, they will usually fall when service charge income is greater than the cost of providing the service.

Will customers be advised if the service charge is going to change?

Each year, customers will receive a letter telling them what costs have been incurred in respect of their service charge. It will inform them of any changes to their service charge.

What if I want to cancel the service?

Customers who no longer wish to benefit from the Garden Maintenance Service may opt out by writing to Cestria. The charge will be removed the Monday following receipt of their letter.

We will check to ensure that enough charge has been paid to cover the works we have carried out. Where a resident has not paid enough to cover the works they will be invoiced for any under charge.
